We thought Eddie Vedder was going to be David Letterman’s final scheduled musical guest, but my how wrong we all were.

Last night, Letterman welcomed Bob Dylan to the program for the first time since 1993. Dylan rarely performs on television, yet has graced The Late Show now a total of four times – 1984, 1992, 1993, and, now, 2015.

Dylan said farewell with a song from his new album Shadows in the Night, featuring covers of lesser-known songs performed by Frank Sinatra. This was no exception, as he performed “The Night We Called It A Day.” A fitting title for the occasion.
