The family of Bob Marley has shared pro-shot footage of the late reggae icon’s concert at the Rainbow Theatre in 1977. While bootleg clips of the concert have appeared on YouTube before, this marked the first upload of the full show from an official source.

The concert took place on June 4th, 1977 on what became the final stop of the Exodus Tour. Marley and The Wailers were set to play the venue for seven nights, but were forced to cancel the final two on June 5th and 6th after Marley injured his toe playing soccer.

The concert features Marley in the prime of his career, alongside The Wailers who at that time featured bassist Aston “Familyman” BarrettTyrone Downie on keyboards; Carlton Barrett on drums; Julian Marvin on guitar; Alvin “Seeco” Patterson on percussion; and Rita Marley, Marcia Griffiths, and Judy Mowatt (aka the I-Threes) on backing vocals. The 83-minute, 13-song concert feature some of Marley’s most celebrated hits including the opening “Trenchtown Rock”, “I Shot the Sheriff”, “No Woman, No Cry”, and a triple encore consisting of “Jamming”, “Get Up, Stand Up”, and “Exodus”.

The Rainbow Theatre concert stream, which was shared on the official Bob Marley YouTube page last week, also served as a fundraiser for COVID-19 relief. The fundraiser encouraged donations to the MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund, which Spotify pledged to match dollar-for-dollar up to $10 million. The video is also part of the Marley estate’s continuing year-long celebration of what would have been Bob’s 75th birthday.
