Last night, Billy & The Kids kicked off a two-night run with a celebration at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, CA. Not only was the band joined by Lettuce/Soulive guitarist Eric Krasno for the entire show, but the group had a very special guest as well, Bob Weir. By many reports, Weir was sitting in with Bill Kreutzmann’s band for half the show, complimenting tracks like “Iko Iko” and more.

Set two! Wish u were here. #ikoiko #billyandthekids #sweetwatermusichall

With Dead & Company tour just a couple months away, it’s nice to see these two living legends from the Grateful Dead teaming up for an intimate crowd. Billy & The Kids will bring their show to The Warfield in San Francisco, CA tonight, with Greyboy Allstars opening and Krasno still performing with the group.

Billy & The Kids features Aron Magner (Disco Biscuits), Reed Mathis (Tea Leaf Green), and Tom Hamilton (American Babies, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead). We’ll be sure to update with media from the show when it becomes available.

Bob Weir also opened the show with a short, surprise acoustic set featuring Tom Hamilton. You can view “Birdsong” from that below:
