Bob Weir and Wolf Bros continued their brief run of west coast fall dates on Saturday with a performance at the Oxbow RiverStage in Napa, CA. The trio filled the lovely California air of “Wine Country” with a mix of originals and covers throughout the evening, including their take on The Beatles‘ psych-rock classic.

The Saturday night performance at the outdoor venue began with Grateful Dead live staple “Jack Straw” followed by “Ashes & Glass”, an original from Weir and Jay Lane‘s days in Ratdog. The song continued right into a cover of Roy Hamilton‘s “Don’t Let Go” before returning back to “Ashes & Glass”. The covers continued with the band’s takes on Johnny Cash‘s “Big River” and Bob Dylan‘s “Queen Jane Approximately” before returning to the Dead catalog with “West L.A. Fadeaway”, “Weather Report Suite”, and “Let It Grow” to close the first set.

The trio returned to open the second half of the show more covers staring with their take on Kris Kristofferson‘s Me & Bobby McGee followed by Sugar Boy and His Cane Cutters‘ “Iko Iko”. After returning to the Dead songbook for “He’s Gone”, Weir and company turned their sights on John Lennon‘s psychedelic masterpiece with a cover of The Beatles’ “Tomorrow Never Knows”. The music kept rolling as the band charged right into “Estimated Prophet”, “The Other One”, and “Days Between” before wrapping the set with “Casey Jones”. Weir and the Wolf Bros returned to an appropriate one-song encore performance of “One More Saturday Night”.
