Bob Weir and Wolf Bros took their ongoing tour north from Kentucky to Minnesota for a performance at Minneapolis’ The Fillmore on Tuesday night. The latest stop on the trio’s 2020 winter tour saw Weir along with Don Was and Jay Lane charge through a two-set performance that included a change-up from all the Bob Dylan covers they’ve been exploring so far on this run and a nod to the states across the country who voted in Democratic primaries on Tuesday.

The show opened with the high-energy of Weir’s own “Hell In A Bucket” followed by the band’s takes on Johnny Cash‘s “Big River” and Merle Haggard‘s “Mama Tried”. The first half of the show kept rolling with performances of “West L.A. Fadeaway”, “Only A River”, “Peggy-O”, and “Deep Elum Blues”, before the trio sent fans into set break with a Deadhead fan-favorite in “Sugaree”.

The band returned to open the second half of the show with one of their common covers in Kris Kristofferson‘s “Me & Bobby McGee”. The music continued with “Passenger” and RatDog‘s “Two Djinn” before the band started into a three-song segue beginning with the Dead’s beloved ballad “He’s Gone”.

The music grooved right into The Temptations‘ “Shakey Ground” and then on to “Estimated Prophet” before the action came to a stop. “Dear Prudence” came next, followed by Weir then taking a swipe at the politics in motion in the six states which voted on Tuesday as he belted out the “Throwing Stones” lyrics, “Selling guns instead of food today/So the kids they dance and shake their bones/And the politicians throwing stones.” The show came to a fitting close with the Dead’s 1987 hit anthem, “Touch of Grey”.

Bob Weir and Wolf Bros will next head east for two planned performances at The Chicago Theater in Chicago, IL this week on March 11th-12th. Head to Weir’s website for tickets for the band’s upcoming shows.
