Acclaimed funk bassist Bootsy Collins may be retired from touring and performing live, but the former Parliament-Funkadelic member isn’t done working just yet. Collins, who was known throughout his career for both his talented bass abilities and colorful on-stage persona, has teamed up with Fretboard Brewing Company, a local brewery based out of his hometown of Cincinnati, OH, to launch his own signature batch of IPA.

According to reports, the “Bootsy Brewski” will debut at the brewery’s inaugural Over the Top Festival, which takes place at the Fretboard Brewing Co.’s Cincinnati location this weekend, August 16th-17th. Since the event also acts as a fundraiser, some of the proceeds from Bootsy’s Brewski sales will go to the Bootsy Collins Foundation. The event will also feature live performances from notable jam/funk acts including Kung Fu and The Fritz.

“‘BOOTSY’ Brewski IPA is the same Brut IPA recipe that just won us gold at the U.S. Open Beer Championship,” the Cincinnati brewery mentioned in a post shared to its Facebook late last week. “It’s a heck of a beer, perfect for a mid-August afternoon listening to the sounds of The Fritz!”

It’s also worth noting that Fretboard also has a signature ale in tribute to Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio called, “Trey Amber Ale.”
