Funk bass icon Bootsy Collins is cracking open his vaults tonight with a multi-camera, pro-shot stream of his legendary Bear Creek Music Festival set from 2013 to give us a funky way to get into the holiday spirit.

Collins, who recently dropped his star-studded new album, The Power of the One, was looking for the perfect way to get the love flowing, and he couldn’t have picked a better show to share. This slab of deep, delicious grooves and high-flying fun was a highlight of the much missed, groove-centric festival formerly held at the Spirit Of The Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, FL. The storied set has been the subject of countless “You should have been there” stories ever since the last note rang out.

The Bear Creek Music Festival was dedicated to groovy jams with a strong focus on funk, and Bootsy’s appearance on the festival’s 2013 lineup was a highly anticipated addition to the event’s lengthy resume of past performers. Thankfully, videographer Jeremy Sewell and his team captured the entire set on video. Now, seven years later, we all get the chance to get down and dirty in the comfort of our own homes tonight.

You can watch the Bootsy Collins Bear Creek 2013stream tonight, Friday, December 11th, at 9:00 p.m. ET on StageIt. Bootsy Collins himself and his lovely wife, Patricia, will serve as the stream’s hosts. You can order your stream ticket here. Fans who purchase the stream will also be able to re-watch for 48 hours after the initial airing.

To celebrate the release and to honor the spirit of this beloved music event, the artist who created the original 2013 Bear Creek poster is creating a brand-new iteration of the image. The 2020 edition of poster features a melding of Bootsy and the Bear Creek Bear funking up the skies above the famed Spirit Of The Suwannee Amphitheater. While the poster redesign is still in process, you can check out a special sneak peek at the work in progress below. Prints and special signed artist proofs will be available soon.
