At Resonance Music & Arts Festival in September, members of Umphrey’s McGee and The Disco Biscuits revived their long-inactive side project, Brain Damaged Eggmen. The rare all-star supergroup finds Brendan Bayliss, Jake Cinninger, and Kris Myers of Umphrey’s McGee and Marc Brownstein and Aron Magner of The Disco Biscuits joining forces to pay tribute to two iconic rock-and-roll outfits, Pink Floyd and The Beatles.

The long-running spinoff band’s special performance at Resonance Music & Arts Festival this year marked Brain Damaged Eggmen’s first performance since 2012, when the band performed at Summer Camp Music Festival after an unofficial hiatus spanning six years. After debuting on Jam Cruise in 2006, the Umphrey’s McGee/Disco Biscuits tribute to The Beatles and Pink Floyd was particularly active from 2006 to 2008 before more or less dropping off the map, save for rare performances in the years since. As noted during the set’s official announcement, last month’s show at Resonance will be the project’s only performance in 2018.

During Brain Damaged Eggmen’s set at Resonance, the all-star collaboration tended to focus on The Beatles’ songbook for the first half of the show. The group kicked things off with “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heart’s Club Band”, using it as a launching point to run through a number of Abbey Road tunes, including “Mean Mister Mustard”, “Polythene Pam”, and “She Came In Through The Bathroom Window” before saxophonist Nick Gerlach emerged to aid the ensemble on “Baby You’re A Rich Man” from Magical Mystery Tour. After classics like “Dear Prudence” and “I Am The Walrus”, Brain Damaged Eggmen finished off their Beatles portion with a rendition of “I’ve Got A Feeling” before transitioning into the Pink Floyd portion of the performance.

After a brief pause following “I’ve Got A Feeling”, the Umphrey’s McGee/Disco Biscuits collaboration kicked off their Pink Floyd tunes with “In Tthe Flest Part 1”, marking the start of a well-segued run through four fan-favorite Floyd songs. From there, the band worked through “Rull Like Hell”, “Have A Cigar”, and “Young Lust” before finishing off their performance with “Comfortably Numb” and “Brain Damage”.
