Brandi Carlile was joined by the surviving members of Soundgarden over the weekend during her show at The Gorge in George, WA. The fellow Washington natives collaborated onstage for a rendition of the band’s seminal hit “Black Hole Sun” as well as “Searching with My Eyes Closed”.

The reunion with Kim Thayil, Ben Shepherd, and Matt Cameron comes after the singer-songwriter collaborated with the band in-studio in 2019 for a Record Store Day exclusive that came out the following year. Released as A Rooster Says, the 12″ vinyl featured Carlile taking lead vocals on both “Black Hole Sun” and “Searching”. Earlier in 2019, Carlile also performed the band’s top hit during the “I Am The Highway: A Tribute To Chris Cornell” benefit concert in Los Angeles.

Carlile’s Gorge concert also saw a special appearance from Sheryl Crow, who opened the show along with Amythyst Kiah. Crow aided Carlile on a cover of “Rocket Man” by Elton John, whom Carlile has credited as one of her biggest musical—and personal—inspirations. Carlile also used her time at The Gorge to debut a new song, “You And Me On The Rock”, set to appear on her forthcoming LP In These Silent Days.
