Two of the leading names to have emerged out of the Americana/roots rock scene over the past decade, Brittany Howard and Margo Price, linked up for a virtual interview published to Rolling Stone on Monday.

The 30-minute video interview, which ranges in talking points from each of their respective recent studio albums—Howard released her solo debut last year with Jaime while Price released That’s How Rumors Get Started in July—to their friendship, how they’ve managed life and their careers since the emergence of COVID-19, the need for social change sparked by major world events in 2020, and more.

“I was kind of apprehensive getting back on the road again with Jaime, but I knew I had a lot of great intention behind it,” Howard tells Price regarding touring behind her 2019 solo debut. “I just needed to try my hardest and just hang in there. Just hold on. I found out I loved it again. I was having a really great time before everything got cut off. I was finding my place again onstage with my voice.”

Price’s Sturgill Simpson-produced That’s How Rumors Get Started was initially scheduled for a May 8th release via Loma Vista Recordings before being pushed back to July while much of the nation attempted to gather its footing with the surge of COVID-19 cases and fatalities in the spring months.
