Bruce Hornsby and his band, The Noisemakers, stopped by the Jimmy Kimmel Live! studios on Wednesday to serve as the late-night show’s featured musical guests. For their appearance on the popular talk show, Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers treated fans in attendance and viewers watching at home to a performance of “Cast-Off”, one of the tunes featured on the pianist’s latest studio album, Absolute Zero.

The band’s performance of the calming ballad opened up beautifully with Hornsby on his baby grand piano while accompanied by his small string section. The song quickly took off but never got too far ahead of itself as each of the six members allows the music to glide along with melodic ease and tranquility. Sadly, Hornsby wasn’t joined by Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, who appears on the album version of the song, but the band seemed to manage just fine without him. Absolute Zero arrived last month via Zappo Productions/Thirty Tigers, and features a mix of guest collaborators and musicians including Vernon, yMusic, Robert Hunter, The Staves, Blake Mills, Jack DeJohnette, Sean Carey, and The Orchestra Of St. Hanks.

Hornsby and company had been in southern California this past weekend where they performed at the inaugural BeachLife Festival. The band will continue to perform their new material into the summer months with their 2019 tour set to start up again in mid-July with support from Amos Lee and S. Carey.
