Bruce Hornsby and Ezra Koenig (Vampire Weekend) have released a video for “Sidelines”, a song off the pianist’s upcoming album, ‘Flicted. Out on May 27th, the record is Bruce Hornsby’s 23rd studio release.
Co-produced by Hornsby and Tony Berg, ‘Flicted is the third in a series of three collections of songs based on music composed for filmmaker Spike Lee (Absolute Zero and Non-Secure Connection were the first two).
Hornsby explains, “The album title ‘Flicted relates to this strange time in which we live, when the world is basically, well, ‘flicted.”

The unlikely duo of Hornsby and Koenig has shared a first look at their project, releasing an animated video for the song “Sidelines” featuring Blake Mills. The mellow, ethereal track features Mills on guitar, and the video was directed by Kitty Faingold.
The album will also include a duet with Danielle Haim on the pandemic-themed “Days Ahead”, contributions from Rob Moose (Mumford & Sons), and an interpretation of Chuck Berry’s “Too Much Monkey Business”, which is the first cover to appear on a Bruce Hornsby studio release.
“Sidelines” is now streaming, and ‘Flicted is available for preorder here. Watch the video for “Sidelines” below.
