Bleachers, the recently-revived, Jack Antonoff-led indie-pop act, converged on New York’s Electric Lady Studios to perform their two latest tracks with help from the Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen. The pre-recorded performances of the band’s new singles, “chinatown” and “45”, were premiered on Monday via the Bleachers YouTube channel.

“I go to Electric Lady every day to work,” Antonoff said in a press statement. “I sit on the roof for hours and hours. Probably spent more time on that roof this year than my bed. Kept imagining the band up there on all the different levels playing on 8th street with everything patched into the console of studio D. Was the first time we played these songs and the first time we played together since the pandemic. Was like a dream.”

Both “chinatown” (which features Bruce Springsteen) and “45” are set to be included on the forthcoming new Bleachers album, due out next year. The album will mark the first studio release from the band since 2017’s Gone Now. While the two new tracks mark the first new tracks from Bleachers since 2017, Jack Antonoff has remained plenty busy in the years since. Antonoff has developed a reputation as one of the most in-demand producers in popular music, writing and producing on hit albums including Lana Del Rey‘s Norman Fucking Rockwell! The Chicks’ Gaslighter, and Taylor Swift‘s ReputationLover, and Folklore.

Bruce Springsteen has also remained in the headlines throughout this pandemic-altered year. In October, he released his latest studio album, Letter To You.
