A new trailer for upcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere gives fans their first extended look at actor Jeremy Allen White as The Boss.

Per a description of the film, a 20th Century Studios production, “Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere chronicles the making of Bruce Springsteen’s 1982 ‘Nebraska’ album when he was a young musician on the cusp of global superstardom, struggling to reconcile the pressures of success with the ghosts of his past. Recorded on a 4-track recorder in Springsteen’s New Jersey bedroom, the album marked a pivotal time in his life and is considered one of his most enduring works—a raw, haunted acoustic record populated by lost souls searching for a reason to believe.”

The film, written and directed for the screen by Scott Cooper based on the book of the same title by Warren Zanes, stars White as Springsteen alongside Jeremy Strong (Succession) as his longtime manager Jon LandauPaul Walter Hauser as guitar tech Mike BatlanStephen Graham as Springsteen’s father; Odessa Young as a love interest, Faye; Gaby Hoffman as Springsteen’s mom; Marc Maron as record producer Chuck Plotkin; and David Krumholtz as Columbia executive Al Teller.

In his breakout role as Carmy on The Bear, Jeremy Allen White became known as a deep-thinking, internally conflicted, salt-of-the-Earth overachiever who lifts up the community around him even as he battles his own internal demons. That role surely primed him to play Springsteen, a character defined by virtually the same traits—though what we’ve seen so far of his take on Asbury Park, NJ’s “local hero” is no less convincing than his work in the Chicago culinary world.

The trailer for the Bruce Springsteen biopic captures both the dreary ambiance of early-’80s Asbury Park and the weary yet hopeful romanticism that the setting inspired in his music. Various shots from the preview depict White’s Springsteen on location in notable spots around the beachside town, from the boardwalk to the famous carousel.
