As the music world retreated into a cocoon in the midst of the COVID pandemic, a crack team of funk musicians emerged from their chrysalis as BTTRFLY Quintet. Featuring members of Lettuce and Big Gigantic alongside Pretty Lights and Break Science collaborators, the supergroup has made its studio debut with its first-ever single, “Coast”. The song will serve as the title track to the band’s album out on November 4th.

Comprised of Adam Deitch (drums, Lettuce), Eric “Benny” Bloom (trumpet, Lettuce), Borahm Lee (keyboards/producer, Break Science/Pretty Lights), Dominic Lalli (saxophonist/producer, Big Gigantic), and Hunter Roberts (bassist/visual artist, Break Science), BTTRFLY Quintet combines the group’s shared resume of jazz and funk knowledge. On “Coast”, the horn section of Benny and Lalli recalls the throwback-funk stylings of Lettuce while the rock-solid rhythm section of Deitch and Roberts helps break new sonic ground.
