People have been mourning the death of the blues for years, but iconic singer-guitarist Buddy Guy wants everyone to know that they’re wrong. Today, the 81-year-old Chicago blues legend has announced the upcoming release of his new album, aptly titled The Blues is Alive and Well. The album is set to be released on June 15th via Silvertone/RCA Records. Grammy Award-winning producer/songwriter and longtime Guy collaborator Tom Hambridge served as the album’s producer.

The Blues is Alive and Well is set to feature a number of high-profile guest appearances, including The Rolling Stones‘ Keith Richards and Mick Jagger as well as decorated guitarist Jeff Beck and contemporary British singer-songwriter James Bay. Jagger lends his vocals to the album’s 8th track, “You Did The Crime”, while both Beck and Richards join forces with Guy on “Cognac”. Bay is featured on “Blue No More”.

Buddy Guy will also appear on an upcoming episode of David Letterman‘s Netflix series, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, where he will speak about his quest to keep the blues genre vital and the origins of southern blues, in addition to performing some music. Other guests on the former late-night TV host’s recently-launched monthly show have included Barack ObamaGeorge ClooneyMalala Yousafzai, and Jay-Z.
