Last weekend, beloved bluegrass band Cabinet broke ground at one of the most renowned venues in America, Bluegrass Underground. Situated 333 feet below the surface in a cave, Bluegrass Underground captures both the natural beauty and acoustics of the mining areas of McMinnville, TN. The site is also home to the acclaimed PBS series of the same name, where Cabinet let loose for a profound performance.

Riding the high of their recent Susquehanna Breakdown festival in Pennsylvania, Cabinet was loose and ready to rock. The band continues to impress with their traditional sound that somehow works in tremendous improvisational segments. They’re a tight band and worthy of any and all praise, including the opportunity to perform at BGU!

In an interview before the performance, JP Biondo said, “This will be the first time that Cabinet performs in a cave. We’ve heard so many great things about the Bluegrass Underground experience. We’re really just excited to get in there and have a great time with some folks. See ya in Tennessee!”

The show itself featured some of the band’s classics, including “Caroline,” “Po’s Reel,” and so many more. You can listen to the full audio below, taped by Keith Litzenberger.
