Yesterday, for the second game of the 2017 NBA Finals, the Golden State Warriors beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 132-113 at Oakland’s Oracle Arena. Ahead of the game, the legendary guitarist and Bay Area resident, Carlos Santana, lent his world-renowned guitar stylings for a soulful rendition of the National Anthem along with bassist Benny Rietveld. The guitarist is a veteran of the game-opening number at this point, considering that in 2015 and 2016, he and his wife, drummer Cindy Blackman Santana, performed the National Anthem together for Game 2 of the NBA Finals. However, despite this history of shredding the number, Carlos Santana slipped up a little this year — the guitars seemed to add extra lines to the song after “Were so gallantly streaming,” instead returning to the “Whose broad stripes and bright stars” rather than moving onto “And the rocket’s red glare.”

Carlos Santana Reveals Plans For World Tour

Regardless and predictably, Santana still shreds. You can watch Santana’s renditions of “The Star-Spangled Banner” across 2015, 2016, and 2017 below.
