The legendary David Bowie died in January of 2016, leaving behind a long-lasting legacy. This past year, a number of key musicians from Bowie’s touring backing bands, including all of the members of his band for A Reality Tour during 2003 and 2004, hit the road once again to honor the iconic rock star. The Celebrating David Bowie tour was brief, with the tour built around what would have been Bowie’s 70th birthday and only hitting a handful of select cities. However, the shows were critically acclaimed and in high demand, and now, the ensemble has announced that it will be returning to the road in 2018 for an extensive United States tour.

In 2018, the Celebrating David Bowie tour will feature a number of musicians who worked extensively with Bowie, including the show’s producer and guitarist Angelo Bundini (also known as Scrote); keyboardist Mike Garson, a long-standing member of Bowie’s touring ensemble from the early ’70s on; guitarist Adrian Belew of King Crimson, who played on Lodger (1979) and during the Sound & Vision tour in 1990; and guitarist Gerry Leonard, who played on and toured in promotion of Heathen (2002) and Reality (2003). Also on deck for the Celebrating David Bowie tour are Carmine Rojas, Angelo Moore, Joe Sumner, and Gaby Moreno.

During the tour’s first iteration this year, the ensemble welcomes a number of surprise guests, including Joe Elliott of Def Leppard, Sting, Gary Oldman, Seal, Perry Farrell, Kate Pierson of The B-52s’s, Ewan McGregor, La Roux, Living Colour, and more. As Bundini notes, “We have some amazing surprises planned this time. I don’t like to give away too much detail but I will say that we will perform all the very biggest Bowie songs you’d expect plus many favorites we didn’t play last time from Space Oddity all the way up to Blackstar. We’ll touch on everything one way or another.”
