After being diagnosed with stomach cancer last Fall, the late-blooming “Screaming Eagle of Soul,” singer Charles Bradley, returned to the road with an extensive new crop of tour dates late this spring. However, after being forced to postpone a handful of dates over Labor Day weekend due to colitis, Bradley has now announced that all upcoming dates have been canceled, as the cancer has spread to his liver.

The Brooklyn-raised Daptone Records singer has been a cornerstone of the funk/soul revival in recent years, and is nothing short of being a positive force and inspiration both on stage and in the studio. Bradley was scheduled to play all over the world from September through December, including a gig this weekend in Brooklyn at OctFest, dates in South America and Europe, Suwannee Hulaween, and a New Year’s Eve support gig for My Morning Jacket in Colorado.

We wish you a speedy recovery here at L4LM, Charles!

Dear Fans, Charles Bradley has announced the cancellation of all upcoming tour dates due to illness.

As you may have known, Charles was diagnosed with stomach cancer last fall and, after undergoing treatment and beating it, he returned to the road this past spring. He began to feel run down during recent tour dates and learned that his cancer spread to his liver, though hasn’t returned to his stomach. He will be taking time off to focus on treatment and recovery.

“I love all of you out there that made my dreams come true. When I come back, I’ll come back strong, with God’s love. With God’s will, I’ll be back soon.” – Charles Bradley
