The music world took a major hit when inspirational soul singer Charles Bradley succumbed to a long battle with cancer this past September. The Daptone Records singer found fame late in life, but was always a shining light of positivity throughout his life. In honor of Bradley, street artist Joe Miller (IG: @thejoemiller) recently debuted a painting of the singer for Gallery Cafe Chicago’s Free Throw Series. Miller has now followed that up with a full street mural of The Screaming Eagle of Soul down in NYC’s Lower East Side at 122 Allen Street.

The Legendary Soul Singer, Charles Bradley, Dies At 68

Bradley was no stranger to New York City, as the Gainesville, Florida-born singer had been a resident of the city for two decades. In related news, Living on Soul filmmakers Jeff Broadway and Cory Bailey released a touching video on his Facebook page in early October of Bradley being filmed while on the road in Vienna, Austria back in July 2014. In the opening moments of the video, the artist states, “Right now, I’m just trying to get through life in a humble way. And I try to forget about a lot of the hardships, but it’s hard to get rid of it. Because a lot of things in the hardships, there’s some sweetness in them. You got to analyze it very finely, and try to see what I can let go and keep.
