Jazz guitarist Charlie Hunter and drummer Scott Amendola will perform a run of ten duo shows beginning Wednesday, May 18th at Bur Oak in Madison, WI.

The two-man supergroup will traverse the Midwest with stops in Eau Claire, WI; Chicago, IL; Milwaukee, WI; and Grand Rapids, MI; before reaching Pittsburgh, PA. They will then head southwest for a show in Newport, KY and two shows in Indianapolis, ID, which will also feature special guest saxophonist Rob Dixon. The duo will then wrap up the run at Natalie’s in Worthington, OH on Saturday, May 28th.

Charlie Hunter and Scott Amendola have performed as a duo before, most recently in December 2021 when the jazz/funk virtuosos played nine improv-heavy shows for sold-out crowds around California. In a post on social media, Hunter said the two have played together for “nigh on thirty years.”

With Hunter holding down rhythm, lead, and bass on his custom seven- and eight-string guitars and Amendola providing drums and percussion with some experimental effects, the Charlie Hunter/Scott Amendola Duo combines two of the most impressive voices in contemporary jazz, allowing each to shine while complementing the other. Both musicians have a predilection for funky grooves and interactive jams, and when they come together, the result is an alchemical mixture of talent and taste.

Charlie Hunter is also currently on tour performing with a quartet featuring Kurt Elling, Cory Fonville, and DJ Harrison, with upcoming shows in Washington, D.C.; Cape May, NJ; and Ardmore, PA prior to the start of his duo tour with Scott Amendola.
