2014 seems like a year poised for Australian dance music to break out into the mainstream. Up and coming superstar Flume leads the way, with acts like Wave Racer and Motez making names of themselves with storng offerings. But Melbourne born Chet Faker seems poised to be the next big ting, mixing soulful vocals with chill, downtempo beats with a hint of hip hop influence.

Over the past three years, Faker’s made a name for himself with several high profile tracks. His cover of Blackstreet’s ‘No Diggity’ went viral, hitting #1 on Hype Machine, his collaborative EP with Flume, ‘Lockjaw’, was critically acclaimed and resulted in a Platinum single in Australia, and remixes for artists like The Temper Trap and MS MR have all received buzz.

Blending soul, hip hop, lounge, and electronica, Faker’s new album, Built For Glass, was released last month to critical acclaim. It’s an extremely forward thinking electronic album, unlike much of what’s being released today.

Faker will be bringing his complete live band to Output, turning the venue into a 360 degree viewing platform. Doors open at 8pm with support from Sweater Beats – and this show is completely sold out.
