Recently opened Chicago, IL venue The Salt Shed will bring audiences in from the cold next year with its first indoor concerts. The initial slate of 2023 indoor shows, revealed on Tuesday, includes King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Tyler Childers, The Roots, and many more running from February through October.
The Salt Shed will host its first-ever indoor concert on February 17th with Tove Lo and Slayyyter. The latest venture from Chicago hospitality group 16″ on Center will bring a diverse lineup of artists like EDM festival favorite Big Gigantic (2/18), rising Swedish garage rockers Viagra Boys (2/24), Godfather of Punk Iggy Pop (3/10), a special Flaming Lips show celebrating the 20th anniversary of Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots (5/5), and many more. The venue is also included on King Gizzard’s 2023 “residency tour” and is set to host three shows by the Australian psych-rockers (6/11–13).
“One of the things that really excites me about this project is continuing to work with the artists we’ve grown up with,” 16″ on Center managing partner Bruce Finkelman said in a press release. “These are musicians that started at the Empty Bottle, grew to Thalia Hall, and we now look forward to hosting at the Salt Shed.”
The venue opened last summer by welcoming an array of indie and Americana artists to its outdoor stage. Bands like Fleet Foxes, Lake Street Dive, Jason Isbell And The 400 Unit, and more all performed in the 1.5-acre, multi-purpose space which also hosts markets and other events. The indoor stage will reportedly include multi-level seating and opera boxes.
Tickets to the first wave of indoor Salt Shed shows go on sale to the general public on Friday at 10 a.m. CT. To obtain access to pre-sales this week, subscribe to the venue’s newsletter by Wednesday morning. See the full lineup below.
