Chris Stapleton appeared on A Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Monday night to perform his new song, “Devil Always Made Me Think Twice”. The track, written by Stapleton and Al Anderson, appears as the second track on his latest album, Starting Over, which recently debuted in the top spot on the Billboard Country Albums chart.

Stapleton and his band performed the gritty country-blues number from a saloon-like studio space. Produced by fellow Grammy Award-winner Dave Cobb, Starting Over was recorded at the legendary RCA Studio A in Nashville, TN, with additional work done at Muscle Shoals Sound and Compass Sound Studio. The album sees musical contributions from Cobb as well, in addition to Stapleton’s wife Morgane (vocals/tambourine), J.T. Cure (bass), and Derek Mixon (drums). Additionally, Starting Over features special guests Mike Campbell (guitar), Benmont Tench (Hammond B3 organ), Paul Franklin (pedal steel), and the All Voices Choir.
