Coachella has finally announced the line-up for 2013, and it’s the standard Coachella mix of British comebacks, EDM stars, alt rock favorites, and hip hop legends. The big news? The Stone Roses, Blur, and Phoenix. The problem? All of these headliners have already announced dates in addition to Coachella. There’s no big ‘Coachella-only’ attraction, although the overall line-up is pretty incredible.
Other huge acts on the line-up include The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Wu Tang Clan, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds and it’s side-project Grinderman, The Postal Service’s comeback show, the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s re-appearance, the Skrillex and Boys Noize side-project Dog Blood, the legendary Lou Reed, the return of indie-rappers Jurassic 5, and stadium headliners Sigur Ros.
The rest of the line-up is pretty EDM heavy, featuring some of the biggest names in the genre. It’s kind of like a mini-Ultra. Bassnectar, Infected Mushroom, Knife Party, Moby, Pretty Lights, Eric Prydz, Excision, Benny Bennasi, Richie Hawtin, Major Lazer, Fedde Le Grand, Wolfgang Gartner, Dillon Francis, Thomas Gold, Tommy Trash…it’s a huge line-up. Not to mention more underground names like Modestep, Birdy Nam Nam, Dirtyphonics, and more.
For the indie fans who call Coachella home, don’t fret, there’s still sets from a returning Franz Ferdinand, the XX, Alt-J, Grimes, The Lumineers, Grizzly Bear, and more. It’s still a music festival. There will be instruments. Don’t worry.
Coachella will be awesome this year, even though it didn’t come through with everyone’s favorite rumor, Daft Punk, or everyone’s favorite legends, The Rolling Stones.
