An announcement for the event noted,

Fifty years ago to the day, Joe Cocker’s Mad Dogs & Englishmen descended on the Filmore West and delivered one of the legendary performances in rock ‘n’ roll history. On April 26th, we step back in time and tell the story of a tour that materialized in just six days, changing the lives of 43 misfits who boarded a shuddering Lockheed Super Constellation airplane and took the country by storm.

Wolf’s rock photography work stretches back to the 1960s, when she became the resident photographer for the pioneering all-girl rock band Fanny. Then in 1970, she was called upon to document Cocker’s impending United States tour. The story goes that Cocker arrived in the United States six days before the tour began and, having just split with his backing group The Grease Band, assembled over 40 fellow musicians to embark on a tour that would be etched into rock history alongside the likes of Bob Dylan‘s Rolling Thunder Revue.
