A Color Red benefit concert for Take Note Colorado will take place this Friday, June 28 at Denver’s Bluebird Theater.

The show will feature performances from collaborative CO acts the Color Red All-Stars and Death By Dub, featuring Eddie Roberts (The New Mastersounds, Matador! Soul Sounds), Jeremy Salken (Big Gigantic), Kim Dawson (Matador! Soul Sounds), Dan Africano (John Brown’s Body, Ghost Light), Scott Flynn (Odesza), Borahm Lee (Break Science), Drew Sayers and Ryan Jalbert (The Motet), and more.

Hosted by Color Red and AEG, the show will be directly raising money for Take Note Colorado, a statewide initiative founded by former Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper and Isaac Slade (The Fray). With a vision to provide access to musical instruments and instruction to every K-12 student in Colorado, Take Note Colorado creates this access by raising funds, connecting communities to music resources, and raising awareness of the importance of student-centered and culturally-relevant music instruction.

As Death By Dub’s Dan Africano explains,

Not only are we really looking forward to debuting this project at the Bluebird Theater, playing live dub music, which is a style of music that typically lives in the studio, but we’re also honored to be a part of this event that is benefitting such a great organization. I can attribute my career as a musician to having been afforded the opportunity to learn music in school at a young age and I think it is of utmost importance to prioritize music education for the youth of our communities. I’m excited to be working with Take Note Colorado to help make access to musical instruments and music education a possibility for everyone.

As Eddie Roberts continues,

I personally feel that there is a responsibility as a musician to give back to the community that supports us, and what better way than to help kids in that community gain access to instruments and teachers. I started Color Red to celebrate the Denver and Colorado music scene, giving studio access, producers, and a distribution network to every musician with no upfront costs. Our motivation is to build a stronger music community that focuses on collaboration, sharing musical and production ideas, and showing the world what an amazing supportive scene we have going here. The mission of both Take Note and Color Red are aligned in growing our community in positive and creative ways.

The “colorful” record label strives to stand out by releasing new original music every week. Eddie Roberts and The Color Red All-Stars released a debut single “Camins del Priorat”, this week to showcase the band’s hard bop house-jazz stylings and give fans a taste of what to expect at Friday’s show.

If that’s not enough enough to get you to the show, Death by Dub is releasing their fourth single, the reggae-dub track “Guillotine” on Thursday, June 27. You can listen to “Camins del Priorat” and an exclusive early preview of Death By Dub’s “Guillotine” below:
