On Thursday, Osiris Media shared the first episode of Comes A Time, a new podcast featuring bassist Oteil Burbridge and comedian Mike Finoia. The podcast will find Burbridge and Finoia bringing “common sense back to people” as they discuss the important issues of our time. Along with encapsulating the concept of the show, the title pays homage to the classic Jerry Garcia/Robert Hunter ballad, “Comes A Time”, on which Oteil sings lead with Dead & Company.
The next three installments of Comes A Time, due out on Friday, August 7th will feature a number of exciting special guests including Oteil’s Dead & Company bandmate/Grateful Dead co-founder Bob Weir, Jerry Garcia Band keyboardist Melvin Seals, and Garcia’s longtime partner, Mountain Girl. Future installments of the series will also see the hosts joined by The Allman Brothers Band percussionist Jaimoe, Grateful Dead/Dead & Co drummer Mickey Hart, and comedians Keith Robinson and Tom Papa, among others.
The pilot episode of Comes A Time finds Burbridge and Finoia discussing how they struck up a friendship after Oteil appeared as a guest on Mike’s Amigos podcast, as well as the turbulent set of circumstances that led them to hosting a podcast about current events and societal issues. Burbridge has been talking about the podcast publicly for some time, including during an interview segment at Justice Comes Alive with Nikki Glaspie.
“At this time in our country’s history, we’re proud to have a musician and social activist like Oteil bringing important conversations to the foreground,” Osiris CEO RJ Bee said. “Mike Finoia is a very smart, very funny comedian who brings a lot of perspective and humor to the show. Mike and Oteil have a great chemistry that will bring out the best in their guests. We hope people’s eyes are opened and that these interviews can help facilitate change when it’s needed most.”
