Funk, house, and R&B septet Cool Cool Cool piles into “the van” for a dynamic performance in a newly shared episode of Jam in the Van.

Filmed in September 2024 at Whale Rock Music & Arts Festival (formerly Beaverstock) in Paso Robles, CA, the powerful three-song set showcases Cool Cool Cool’s unique synthesis of musical styles and undeniable chemistry. Formed in 2022 by former Turkuaz members, the band started out with years of experience performing together across the world, and it shows. With the addition of drummer Deion Williams, who recently succeeded the throne of longtime Turkuaz drummer Mikey Carrubba after his decision to step away from touring, the collective continues to evolve and ascend to new heights.

Even in the cramped confines of the Jam in the Van van, Cool Cool Cool creates a massive and expansive sound, effortlessly blending deep grooves, infectious melodies, and airtight musicianship. Williams locks in with bassist Miles Livolsi, while singers Shira Elias and Sammi Garett trade soulful vocals over the textured interplay of guitarist Craig Brodhead, trumpeter/keyboardist Chris Brouwers, and saxophonist Greg Sanderson. Their set spans a range of moods, from the laid-back and airy “Never Noticed” to the explosive, vocal-driven “Dynamite” to the driving house rhythm of “Made You Look”.

The band continues to bring funk and joy to audiences across the U.S., headlining its own shows while also serving as the backing band for Talking Heads legends Jerry Harrison and Adrian Belew on the Remain In Light tour. Upcoming highlights include a support slot with The Motet at Denver’s Ogden Theatre, a Modonna tribute featuring special guests Jason Hann (The String Cheese Incident) and Elise Testone in New Orleans during Jazz Fest, and festival appearances at Spring Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance and Spring Shakedown, followed by a run of Remain In Light tour dates.
