Prolific funk guitarist and bandleader Cory Wong will be beaming into homes around the country this week as a featured guest with Louis Cato & The Late Show Band on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. A longtime musical cohort of Cato’s, Wong has sat in with Louis and the band on various occasions dating back to its Jon Batiste-led days while Cato and other Late Show band members have been known to drop in on Cory’s performances.

Stephen Colbert once again had some fun with Cory Wong on Wednesday’s episode. “Cory Wong on guitar right over there,” the host gestured in between segments. “Cory, thank you for joining us this week. Thank you.” Sporting a mischievous smile, Colbert continued, “And thank you… not only thank you for being here and playing, it’s always lovely to have you here, but thank you for always coming dressed as a business casual gondolier.”

The guest spot on The Late Show comes ahead of a busy Power Station winter tour for Cory Wong. The winter leg of the outing is set to feature a new-look band including revered bassist Victor Wooten as well as support from Trousdale.
