Cory Wong has released a new live album recorded on his recent Power Station Tour with singer-songwriter/mandolinist Sierra Hull and vocalist Robbie Wulfsohn of Ripe. Entitled The Power Station Tour (West Coast), the 19-track offering features a broad range of songs captured live during Wong’s biggest U.S. headline tour to date.
The record showcases Wong’s skills as both an instrumentalist and a bandleader and arranger as he leads his tight ten-piece band through hard-grooving funk and jazz tunes from his previous albums. Highlights of the new collection also include compositions by Sierra Hull, like a blistering “Long Way” and “25 Trips”, so-called tiny instrument versions of “Bluebird” and “Pebbles”, a lighthearted “Middle School Dance Medley”, and a few soulful numbers featuring Robbie Wulfsohn to close out the album.

“I’m a LIVE guy,” said Wong. “I love the energy of live shows and that’s really where my band shines. There’s something special about a group of 10 musicians on stage giving it everything they’ve got with a packed room of people giving that energy right back. My live show is a balance of highly arranged material with jumping points that give ample room for exploration night after night. This album is a collection of our favorite journeys through each song.”

The album’s release precedes the start the next leg of Wong’s Power Station Tour, where he will be joined by bassist Victor Wooten and special guests Trousdale.
