“The Line” is a newer Phish song inspired by basketball player Darius Washington, Jr.‘s failed attempt at a free throw that lost his team a championship game and prevented them from moving on to the NCAA tournament. Washington was a college basketball player at the University of Memphis in 2005 when the painful incident occurred. He now plays for the Czech league on team CEZ Nymburk.
