Gov’t Mule will celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Dark Side of the Moon with 13 shows featuring a special Pink Floyd tribute set. The band has added 12 new summer tour dates, which will follow its previously announced spring tour and feature support from Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening.
Gov’t Mule originally debuted Dark Side of the Mule on Halloween in 2008 at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston. The performance was recorded and later released as a live album in 2014. The band reprised its Pink Floyd tribute years later, performing it a total of ten times. Now Gov’t Mule will visit The Dark Side of the Moon one last time in honor of the iconic album’s 50th anniversary.
“This all started so organically with what we thought would be a one-time Halloween performance,” said frontman Warren Haynes. “Since then, Dark Side of the Mule has grown into something else. It’s a blast to perform this material but our intent is to do it for one final tour in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Dark Side. Don’t miss it!”
The Dark Side of the Mule Tour will kick off on July 22nd in Atlantic City. The tour will make stops at Great South Bay Music Festival in Patchogue, NY (7/23), Ruoff Music Center in Noblesville, IN (8/3), Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO (8/7), and more, with additional dates in Detroit, Indianapolis, Chicago, Dallas, Charlotte, Atlanta, Boston, and more. The tour will conclude at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ on August 19th.
Presale tickets will be available beginning Tuesday, March 7th via the Citi Entertainment program. Additional presales will take place throughout the week with the general on sale beginning on Friday, March 10th at 10 a.m. local time via the band’s website.
Gov’t Mule will return to the road this spring for a ten-date tour beginning May 5th in New Orleans during Jazz Fest and stretching until May 19th–20th, when Haynes and company will play two nights at Salvage Station’s outdoor stage in Haynes’ hometown of Asheville, NC.
