Saturday Night Live has announced that comedian Dave Chappelle will serve as the show’s host next week (Saturday, November 12th) alongside musical guest Black Star, the beloved hip-hop duo comprised of Talib Kweli and Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def).

Chappelle’s latest SNL hosting gig will once again fall after a consequential U.S. election. He previously hosted in 2016 and 2020 following the last two presidential contests. The comedian took home a Primetime Emmy Award in 2017 for the 2016 appearance, although he later backtracked on the “give Trump a chance” sentiments he expressed on the show. Chappelle has also faced controversy in the past year for his repeated jokes at the expense of transgender people.

The episode’s musical guests became underground hip-hop heroes with their 1998 LP, Most Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star. Earlier this year, Talib Kweli and yasiin bey came together once again for their first Black Star album in 24 years, No Fear of Time. The record was released exclusively via Luminary, the podcast platform that also hosts Kweli, Bey, and Chappelle’s podcast, The Midnight Miracle.
