A Dave Grohl-directed documentary entitled, What Drives Us, which follows two lesser-known bands around the country while also featuring interviews with a number of well-known rock musicians, will arrive on Amazon Prime Video later this month.
On Monday, The Coda Collection announced the film will premiere via the on-demand video streaming platform on April 30th. The feature-length film follows bands Radkey and Starcrawler while on tour, mixed together with new interview footage with Foo Fighters members Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Rami Jaffee, and Pat Smear, along with Ringo Starr, Flea, Brian Johnson, St. Vincent, Slash, Duff McKagan, Ben Harper, The Edge, Mike Watt, Ian Mackaye, Exene Cervenka, Tony Kanal, DH Peligro, Charlie Gabriel, Jennifer Finch, Dave Lombardo, Kira Roessler, Pete Stahl, Lars Ulrich, and Steven Tyler.
“This film is my love letter to every musician that has ever jumped in an old van with their friends and left it all behind for the simple reward of playing music,” Grohl adds in a press statement about his latest documentary film. “What started as a project to pull back the curtain on the DIY logistics of stuffing all of your friends and equipment into a small space for months on end eventually turned into an exploration of ‘why?’ What drives us?’”
