Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters producer Greg Kurstin announced Hanukkah Sessions on Wednesday, which will see the duo release eight cover songs by Jewish artists over each of the eight nights of Hanukkah.

Kurstin and his non-Jewish counterpart, Grohl, announced the new project in a video posted to Instagram on Wednesday night. Within the 30-second clip, Grohl noted that this year would signal a shift from his usual tradition of covering a Christmas song. He also mentioned that each of the cover songs would come from a different, famous Jewish artist, with one song arriving each night from Thursday, December 10th to Friday, December 18th.

The short video posted to the band’s social media accounts did not tease any of the songs or artists that would be covered during the Festival of Lights, however, as previously mentioned, Grohl did specifically state that they would cover eight different Jewish artists.

“Greg and I decided to celebrate Hanukkah by recording eight songs by eight famous Jewish artists each night of Hanukkah for you, so we hope you enjoy,” he said to end the video.

They added in a caption along with the video, “With all the mishegas of 2020, Greg and I were kibbitzing about how we could make Hannukah extra-special this year. Festival of Lights?!? How about a festival of tasty LICKS!!! So hold on to your tuchuses because we’ve got something special coming for your shayna punims. L’chaim!!!!”
