Dave Grohl has started a new Instagram page to regale his fans with true stories from his life while everyone is under self-quarantine.
The new account, dubbed @davestruestories, made its first post late Tuesday night and introduced fans to the Foo Fighters frontman’s latest creative outlet. The first post isn’t so much of a story, but rather an introduction for future stories. “Hi. My name is Dave. Sometimes I play drums. Sometimes I play guitar. Sometimes I tell stories,” the post begins.

Grohl goes on to express his immense boredom as a result of a loss of work, due to the spread of the novel coronavirus which has effectively shut down live music across the country. While many musicians are worried about how they will make rent this month, Grohl, as a world-famous rock star, is simply worried about how he will fill his time going forward. When he says that he is, “currently looking for work,” he is referring to work in the more metaphorical sense of a purpose, not circling ads in the classifieds. His heart is in the right place, however, as he states his purpose is simple, “make people smile,” as well as being “a total f*cking spaz who can’t sit around doing nothing.”
He then goes on to describe his mother as a “brilliant English teacher” and his father “a wicked speechwriter,” and that as an act of rebellion he purposefully never paid attention to “grammar and/or punctuation,” which is already painfully apparent by the post being written in all caps. Grohl wraps up the post by humbly stating that he’s “not going for a Nobel Prize in Literature here,” and that his only intent is for our delight. Lastly, he reminds readers to “wash your f*cking hands.”

Grohl is one of many hundreds of thousands of musicians who have been forced to cancel shows and tours as a result of COVID-19. The band was set to head out on its 25th anniversary Van Tour, where Foo Fighters would play all of the same cities the band hit on its first-ever tour. In the meantime, Grohl confirmed last month that the band’s 10th album was finished, but provided no release date. Stay tuned to Foo Fighters’ website for more information.
