Dave Matthews Band Welcomes Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi In Jacksonville [Videos]

Hometown hero Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi joined Dave Matthews Band on Tuesday for the band’s show in Jacksonville, FL. The sit-in from the Tedeschi Trucks Band leaders came at the end of the set and culminated with a Bob Dylan cover.

DMB recently got back on the road after having to cancel a pair of shows in West Palm Beach due to a COVID case within the band. Last weekend, they returned to the stage for a two-night stand in Charleston, SC before heading back down to the Sunshine State for a pair of shows at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville. The run began on Monday, with Tuesday’s show signaling the end of the band’s Southeastern jaunt.

With the group back at full strength, the show began with “One Sweet World” ahead of a number of tour staples including “Satelite”, “#41”, “Madman’s Eyes”, and more. Toward the end of the main set, Dave Matthews offered the tour debut of “Minarets”, not played since February 20th in Mexico, per DMB Almanac. Following a performance of “Crush”, Dave delivered the first “Lie In Our Graves” of the tour (LTP 2/19/22) featuring special guest Derek Trucks. The world-renowned slide guitarist added to the rich texture of the band before he was given the space to shine his light in front of a hometown crowd.

The surprises weren’t done, however, as Trucks’ faithful companion Susan Tedeschi emerged from the wings. Tedeschi charioted the band through a take on “All Along The Watchtower” at a subdued pace that, when handed back over to the eponymous frontman, kicked into gear with Trucks igniting the fuse for an explosive set finale. After returning for the encore sans special guests, DMB closed out the show with “Rye Whiskey” and “Ants Marching”.
