On Friday, Dave Matthews Band opened up their annual Labor Day Weekend run at The Gorge in George, WA with support from funk favorites Lettuce.
Lettuce fielded and unusual lineup for the evening, as keyboardist Nigel Hall was unavailable for the gig so talented young player DeShawn Alexander stepped in as a substitute.
Following the opening Lettuce set, Dave Matthews Band got down to business with a run of crowd favorites including “Seek Up”, the newer “Come Tomorrow”, and the classic “What Would You Say”.
“Rooftop”, off 2012’s Away From The World, was up next, followed by Come Tomorrow cut “Do You Remember”, one of the band’s most-played songs of the summer. After a run through fan-favorite “Crush”, the band dug deep into their bag of tricks to bust out “Drunken Soldier” for the first time since 2015.

Renditions of “Kill The Preacher”, “Why I Am”, “The Maker”, and “Don’t Drink The Water” followed before the band pared down to the quartet of Dave Matthews (guitar/vocals), Carter Beauford (drums), Rashawn Ross (trumpet) and Tim Reynolds (guitar) for a tender take on “Sister”.
A slew of fan favorites followed from there with “Dancing Nancies”, “The Last Stop”, “Granny”, “You and Me”, and “Tripping Billies” before the band closed out the main portion of their set with a sing-along rendition of “Everyday”.
Dave Matthews Band returned to the stage to kick off their encore with “I’ll Back You Up”, a rare cut off their 1993 debut album, Remember Two Things. After moving into a celebratory “Two Step”, the band closed out night one of their run with the classic pairing of “Pantala Naga Pampa” and “Rapunzel”.
