Dave Matthews Band rolled through Cellairis Amphitheatre at Lakewood (aka Lakewood Amphitheatre) in Atlanta, GA Saturday. The band performed a mix of newer tunes, fan favorites, and tour debuts.
DMB started the night off with “You Might Die Trying”, followed by “Madman’s Eyes”, which the band debuted last fall. They then traversed through “When The World Ends” before giving “Proudest Monkey” its tour debut, adding teases of “Grazing in the Grass” by South African trumpeter Hugh Masekela and “Jamaican Farewell” by Irving Burgie. “Satellite” and “Can’t Stop” came next, followed by “The Dreaming Tree”, which contained the usual tease of Tay Zonday‘s “Chocolate Rain”, and DMB classic “Dancing Nancies”.
“Sweet Up And Down” made its tour debut next along with “Stay Or Leave” off of Dave’s 2003 solo album Some Devil, after which the band went into “Crush” and the relatively new “The Only Thing”. “Again And Again” was the final tour debut of the night, but the set wasn’t over yet. Dave and his band continued on with “Two Step”, “The Space Between”, and “Jimi Thing”, which included teases of Sly & The Family Stone‘s “I Want To Take You Higher”. They wrapped up the set with “What Would You Say”, “You and Me”, and “Ants Marching”, which was prefaced by a drum solo from Carter Beauford.
After a brief pause, DMB returned to the stage for a two-song encore featuring “Time Bomb” and “Warehouse”.
Dave Matthews Band tour continues with shows scheduled through September, including a performance at Pharrell Williams‘s Something In The Water Festival on June 19th.
