Dave Matthews Band wrapped their Labor Day weekend concert run at The Gorge in George, WA on Sunday night with help from Gov’t Mule. Just as the band had done on Saturday night, DMB treated fans to a notable sit-in from guitarist Warren Haynes during their headlining set. On Sunday, however, fans were treated to a double dose of sit-ins as Matthews was also joined Gov’t Mule during their opening set for an older Mule original.

Gov’t Mule got fans up and going with a seven-song opening performance which began with “Banks Of The Deep End”, “Rocking Horse”, and a cover of Etta James‘ “I’d Rather Go Blind”. Mule’s opening set continued into the evening as the sun continued to set above the majestic gorge backdrop with a performance of “Devil Likes It Slow”, which saw the band welcome DMB saxophonist Jeff Coffin to the stage to help play on the 1999 original. The band then welcomed DMB trumpet player Rashawn Ross to help perform “Dreams & Songs”. Following a performance of “Traveling Tune”, Mule wrapped their opening set by welcoming Dave Matthews to the stage to help sing on the live debut of “Forsaken Savior” from 2013’s Shout!

Dave Matthews Band’s 20-song headlining set heard the band tear through a mix of material beginning with “Funny the Way It Is”, “That Girl Is You”, and “Lie in Our Graves”. The performance continued the tour debut of “Proudest Monkey”, which transitioned into “Stay or Leave”. The set kept moving from there with “Write a Song”, “You Might Die Trying”, “Lying in the Hands of God”, “So Right”, and “Raven” before the band returned the opening set favor by welcoming Warren Haynes to the stage to play on “#41”.

Dave Matthews Band’s headlining set kept rocking with performances of “Where Are You Going”, “Jimi Thing”, and their “Back in Black”/”Stayin’ Alive” AC/DC/Bee Gees cover mashup before moving into Steve Miller Band‘s “Fly Like An Eagle”, which they’ve played a handful of times on this tour. The set came to close with “Stay (Wasting Time)” before the band returned to the stage for a two-song, classic rock-inspired encore mashup of Bob Dylan‘s “All Along the Watchtower” and Led Zeppelin‘s “Stairway to Heaven” to bring the weekend run to a thrilling close.
