This Saturday, Cervantes’ Other Side in Denver, CO, will be hosting a birthday blowout for owner Scott Morrill and Motet bandleader Dave Watts. Together, the two will be turning a whopping ninety years old and are making sure to make a night of it. Dave Watts will be assembling a funk supergroup of musicians from around the country for the evening to help celebrate the birthdays.

This iteration of Dave Watts & Friends is set to feature Oteil Burbridge (Dead & Company / Allman Brothers), Ivan Neville (Dumpstaphunk), Adam “Shmeeans” Smirnoff (Lettuce), Ian Neville (Dumpstaphunk), Gabe Mervine & Lyle Divinsky (Motet), Nick Gerlach (Turbo Suit) and Will Trask (Great American Taxi). To kick off the night, local favorites Fleeb (Octopus Nebula / Character Zero) and Mikey Thunder will be getting the party off on the right foot.

Dave Watts had this to say about the evening via his Facebook page, “I’m pretty damn excited about this one folks! Getting to play with some of my favorite musicians on the planet on my birthday? What a gift!”

To celebrate their fellow Aquarians, Scott and Dave have arranged for the first twenty-five Aquariuses who walk through the door to receive a free drink, but more importantly and hilariously, a single complimentary rose. During set break, the “adult pinata” will be making a comeback, which is exactly what it sounds like. Tickets for the event are available via Cervantes’ website.
