David Gilmour has teamed up with Martin Guitars to help design a limited run of acoustic guitars inspired by his love for the famous brand.

Revealed on Wednesday, the D-35 David Gilmour Custom Signature Edition will come as both 6-string, and 12-string models (for fans who want to nail that “Wish You Were Here” intro riff). The former Pink Floyd guitarist had famously used a Martin D-35 guitar throughout his career. Gilmour sold the instrument at auction for a whopping $1,095,000 in 2019 to help raise money for the environmental-based charity ClientEarth.

Notable features on the David Gilmour Custom Signature Edition guitars include a “David Gilmour” headstamp on the back of the headstock—a first for any Martin signature guitar—and a label signed by the musician himself. Both 6-string and 12-string models will sell for $5,499, and production will be limited to just 250 made between the two. Proceeds from the limited run of hand-crafted instruments will also go to benefit the David Gilmour Charitable Foundation.

Aside from helping design state-of-the-art instruments for one of the world’s premier acoustic guitar manufacturers, Gilmore spent last year hosting a virtual performance-meets-poetry web series alongside his family, and shared his first new original solo recording since 2015 with “Yes, I Have Ghosts”.
