David Gilmour has announced a pair of shows added onto his summer tour to be played at Italy’s Pompeii Amphitheatre, the same site Pink Floyd shot their critically acclaimed concert film, Live at Pompeii, 45 years prior. One significant catch though. This time around, Gilmour will be playing to an audience.
As Pink Floyd fans will recall, the band’s 1971 concert film was played before an empty audience. Directed by Adrian Maben over the course of four days, Live at Pompeii featured spellbinding performances of “Echoes” and “One of These Days” from 1971’s Meddle, as well as the title track to 1968’s A Saucerful of Secrets and “Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun.”
Gilmour’s return to Pompeii is scheduled for July 7-8, right smack dab in the middle of a lengthy world tour. Check below for complete tour dates.
