Eric Krasno is bringing The Daze Between Band back to New Orleans, and this year, the virtuosic guitar player from Soulive and Lettuce has curated not one but two special nights during Jazz Fest. For the two-night run, Krasno has put together an impressive all-star cast featuring members of Widespread Panic, Medeski Martin & Wood, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, and The Marcus King Band.

During last year’s festivities, Krasno unleashed his first incarnation of The Daze Between Band—a heady mashup of bassist Oteil Burbridge of Dead & Company and The Allman Brothers Band, young stud drummer Duane Trucks of Widespread Panic, rising axe-man Scott Metzger of Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, genre-defying percussionist Nate Werth of Snarky Puppy, and relative newcomer Lyle Divinsky of The Motet on vocals.

The show, initially intended as a tribute to Butch Trucks and set to feature music by the Grateful Dead and Trucks’ Allman Brothers Band, quickly reached another realm of significance following the death of Col. Bruce Hampton just two days prior. Suddenly, the Daze Between Band became a vehicle for healing and remembrance for artists and fans alike. After the news broke, Col. Bruce acolyte Jeff Sipe joined the Daze Between Band percussion section, and former Allman Brothers Band guitarist/vocalist and Gov’t Mule frontman Warren Haynes stopped by to pay his respects for a show-stopping multi-song cameo. It was certainly a memorable evening filled with incredible music, ambitious improvisation, and that lightning-in-a-bottle vibe that only exists in New Orleans during Jazz Fest.

Following last year’s success, it’s no surprise that Krasno decided to bring The Daze Between Band back to NOLA during Jazz Fest. Of course, Krasno has roped in another impressive lineup of heavy hitters. In fact, his roster was so deep that he was forced to split the squad into two unique lineups. Duane Trucks will be back on drums for both shows, and this year, he’s recruited his partner in rhythm from Widespread Panic: the iconic bassist Dave Schools. Schools is a legendary player and improviser, and as a founding member of WSP, needs no further introduction. His addition to The Daze Between Band universe is exciting, to say the least.

On Wednesday, May 2nd, Krasno, Schools, and Trucks will hit the stage at One Eyed Jack’s with famed organist/keyboardist John Medeski and versatile Joe Russo’s Almost Dead guitarist Tom Hamilton. Thursday, May 3rd, will find Krasno, Trucks, and Schools joining forces once again at The Howlin’ Wolf, with Medeski and Hamilton swapping out for epic guitar prodigy Marcus King and his trusty keys player in the Marcus King Band, Deshawn “D’Vibes” Alexander. With these two top-notch lineups (and we’re assuming some special-guest tricks up his sleeve), Krasno will once again deliver the goods for the revelers at Jazz Fest.

Tickets for both shows by The Daze Between Band are on-sale NOW. You can purchase tickets to the Wednesday (5/2) show at One Eyed Jacks here, or tickets to the Thursday (5/3) show at The Howlin’ Wolf here.
