Prolific poster artist AJ Masthay, who has made prints for Dead & Company, Phil Lesh, Foo Fighters, Black Sabbath, and more, welcomed fans into his studio in West Hartford, CT on Saturday.

Masthay holds the “Open Studio” event once a year, giving music fans and poster enthusiasts a chance to view some of his many works in a gallery environment. Visitors also got to see the old-school process he uses to make hand-carved linoleum block prints and had the opportunity to purchase new designs from the artist himself.

“I’ve kind of combined my love of live music with art and printmaking, and then Grateful Dead, and then next thing I know, I’m making poster for Dead & Company and Phil Lesh and Foo Fighters and Black Sabbath,” Asthay told Fox 61‘s Jim Altman in a local news preview of the event. “If you go to live music, if you are into especially the jam band scene, you’ve probably seen my work.”
