On Sunday night, Dead & Company returned to Boston for their second and final show of the weekend at TD Garden. Friday’s performance showed the band in proper form, highlighting the immense growth of the Grateful Dead-inspired act since its inception. On Sunday, the band continued this trend, offering up a well-played performance that also saw the live debut of Bob Weir’s “Corinna”.

After a show-opening “Samson & Delilah”, the band moved through renditions of “Dire Wolf”, “Cold Rain & Snow”, and “Loser”, making for a soulful start to the performance. Dead & Company’s live debut of “Corrina” came next—the song penned by Bob Weir was first debuted by the Grateful Dead in 1992, frequently making its rounds during live Grateful Dead performances up until Jerry Garcia’s death in 1995 as well as during dozens of Ratdog shows in the years following. The set continued to pick up steam, with the band closing out first set with the always upbeat “Here Comes Sunshine” and Dead & Company’s second live performance of “Greatest Story Ever Told”.

Coming out of set break, Dead & Company returned with the classic combination of “China Cat Sunflower” into “I Know You Rider”. As always, the crowd went wild during “Comes A Time”, given that it offered bassist Oteil Burbridge the chance to take on lead vocals and show off his powerful voice. The group then paid tribute to AC/DC guitarist Malcolm Young who passed away earlier this week, with an image of the rocker appearing on the screen on stage during the “Playing In The Band”. Following the “Drums” and “Space” portion of second set, the band offered up a heartfelt “Morning Dew” before “I Need A Miracle” and the energized set-closing rendition of “Casey Jones”. For encore, the band returned with the mournful “Brokedown Palace” before picking the energy back up for the reprise of “Playing In The Band” to close out the show in full.
