Dead & Company roared through their second stop on tour at the Ak-Chin Pavilion for a smoking show in Phoenix, Arizona. Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge, and Jeff Chimenti came in hot after Saturday night’s tour opener in Las Vegas with a fresh new batch of songs. The show opened with “Feel Like A Stranger,” “Bertha,” and “Minglewood Blues,” which you can watch below, courtesy of nugs.tv.

The band continued with a Weir-penned “Cassidy” that led into a traditional “Peggy-O.” The first set closed with “Loose Lucy,” “Sugaree,” and “Samson and Delilah,” very much to the delight of Dead & Company’s fans.

With temperatures nearing 100 degrees, the second set scorcher opened with a Weir-led “Lost Sailor” and “Saint of Circumstance,” before Mayer took his turn on “Crazy Fingers.” The guitarists then took turns on vocals for a blistering “Scarlet Begonias” that led into a “Fire on the Mountain,” with Weir on vocals. The percussion section then locked in for an incredible “Drums” and “Space.”

After the wild run, the band slowed things down for a touching version of “Dear Prudence” by The Beatles. The second set closed with an energetic “Casey Jones,” before the band returned with their hit “Touch of Grey” to encore.
