While the live events industry may be shut down for the foreseeable future with no planned concerts or events on the horizon, artists are still finding ways to come together and create new music. LaMP, the somewhat new and relatively obscure group comprised of guitarist Scott Metzger (Joe Russo’s Almost Dead) along with Trey Anastasio Band members Russ Lawton (drums) and Ray Paczkowski (keys), has released their debut single, “Some Days”, out now via Bandcamp.

Some fans may recall when the trio delivered their first and only public performance as LaMP at Nectar’s in Burlington, VT back in December 2018.

The collaboration for LaMP’s debut single started by way of email in early 2019, and the band was able to get into a studio to record the groovy instrumental in just two-and-a-half days over the summer a few months later. The recording is the first of many which will appear on a larger project due out sometime in the near future.

“With the world on pause, we got to thinking about how music is so unifying during times like these, and thought now was as good a time as any,” the band mentioned in a statement to go with the arrival of their debut recording. “We hope our music gives you some positive momentum in the days ahead and always.”

The lively new instrumental single bounces along thanks to some fun lead guitar lines from Metzger which dance and dart atop Paczkowski’s organ.
